Today is my first Twitter birthday!!

On my first Twitter birthday - people that have inspired me.

Today November 15th is exactly 12 months since I signed up on Twitter. Actually, I think I had an account earler than that that, but left before I ever figured out what was going on.

The thing that made a difference for me was when I realized that Twitter is all about connections. I've been really lucky in that I've connected with a lot of great people. Through them I've met others, learned a lot and had a few laughs as well.

So I wanted to take a few seconds to recognize some of the people that have made my year on Twitter educational and fun.

First has to be this Danny Brown guy. As I started to explore this social media thing, I got used to seeing the avatar of the guy in the old style flat cap all over the place. I made Danny's blog one of the early "Blog of the Week" features at Totally Incorrect and we got chatting after that.

Through Danny, I met some other super people such as Rich Marti, Jon Aston, Henie Reisinger, John Haydon and Mickey Gomez and got involved in the 12for12k project. I should also add that it has been great to connect with 12for12k supporter and International Man of Mystery PRCog!

It has been a special treat to connect with my partners in the #LiveInLowell team, Elli StGeorge Godfrey and Matt Caruso.

There are also people in the barocde/RFID business I like to interact with such as Carl Brown from Simply RFID and Tim from Zebra. I'd like to see more peopel in our industry get out of the Tweeting the press release phase, but it's a slow process. The teams at ScanSource and BlueStar are making a real effort though.

Some other great people are Staci J Shelton and Eriq Troi, the coolest couple on Twitter.

Ms. Christina Kingston - CTK1 always has something interesting to say. Just don't annoy her or you'll be blocked in a heartbeat!

Jeanne Bowerman - when you track down @CTK1, @jeannevb isn't usually far behind. These two have some entertaining conversations - to say the least.

booksbelow - Roger is a reliable 12for12k supporter and a super engaging person to chat with.

mizhelena - now you could be forgiven for thinking I follow MizHelena for her hot avatars and sex factor. We'll you're wrong. I like her for the cool music she blips and the fact she is a big F1 fan. (OK, you're not totally wrong!!)

Tim Jahn (it is pronounced John) has a unique blog and is another engaging character.

Arik Hansen - another who has this whole social media thing down. Arik is on my list of people it would be good to do out for a beer with.

Hmm, I'm running out of time way before I run out of good people so I have to stop. I know there are a lot of people I've missed off. I either have to give up on the list of post it anyway. I feel reckless so I'm posting it. Please don't be cross with me if I left you out.

Year 2 starts today!!

Maybe it's time to start that "People I'd like to have a beer with" list!
